Welcome to the Land of Kanigaard! Long ago, there was a vibrant isle wearing a cloak of green life. She stretched from the equator to the North pole, guarding the way to the Western Seas. Her people called her Paradise, Heaven on Earth, or the Blessed Haven. Her true name was Kanigaard, Grand Isle of the Oelstrom Sea. Home to warriors and sages, children and dragons, Kanigaard’s history is as long as the ages. In the early pages of Book I of the Tales of Kanigaard, the ages are turning. The Gods of Light and Dark prepare for the battle to decide the turning of the age. As Xanaiat, Lord of the Darklands, prepares the island continent of Sairanan for the battle, his own son, Zekarich, betrays him, and chooses the Light. He curses Zekarich, though even he cannot prevent his son’s soul from journeying to the Light. Zekarich greets the Council of Light with great joy, yet they only decree his return to the Earth and the human world. Zekarich becomes human, and on the way, forgets where he had come from. We then enter the brilliance of Kanigaard Isle, and into the lives of the children who will grow up to fight the great battle. We meet young Seamus, who floated into Kanigaard Bay one stormy afternoon; young Sven, the child with mysterious beginnings and a foolish desire for hunting the black dragon. Little Aristana, the raven-haired lass of the wood who speaks with faeries and sees the light in another’s heart. And Sky Rin Laan - child of the sea, son of a fisherman, nephew of a warrior - joins them as they each grow into their own truth. Together with their parents, their mentors, and their teachers, they live in the days that will see the Turning of the Age.
